At the China Open Source Summit 2019 held in Shanghai, Huawei announced that it’ll soon be opening Ark Compiler for public and as it’s expected that this technology can play a major role in Huawei’s OS.
On June 25, Xiao Ran, Vice President of Huawei’s Strategy and Industry Development, said that Huawei Ark Compiler will be officially open source in August this year and also invited partners and application to join its ecosystem and create apps based on Ark compiler.
According to Huawei, Ark compiler can improve Android system operation fluency by 24%, response speed by 44%, and the smoothness of the third-party application up to 60%.
Although Ran did not reveal any information about the new operating system, industry analysts believe that Huawei may be using Ark Compiler as a foundation of its own operating system reportedly called ‘Hongmeng’. Also, it can play a pivotal role in the application processing section.
Currently, Ark Compiler is installed in Huawei P30, P30 Pro, Nova 5, Nova 5 Pro, Honor 20, 20 Pro and Honor View 20. Huawei has also planned to roll out an update for Honor Magic 2 as well as other devices.
