April 2021 security update released for Huawei Mate Xs folding smartphone

Huawei Mate Xs was the second foldable smartphone from Huawei and currently runs EMUI 11 software. To proceed with the foldable device, Huawei launched the next-generation folding phone – Mate X2.

It doesn’t mean that Huawei will forget its previously released devices and concentrating on new ones. The Chinese tech giant doesn’t show partial behavior in this section and delivers a regular software update for all eligible devices.

Now, Huawei has begun sending a new software update for Mate Xs smartphone users in the China and European markets. This update comes with a number of new features, improvements, and optimizations for the system.

According to the changelog, it added new quick download icons for popular apps on the home screen, brings optimizations for Bluetooth, fixes the problem of multi-screen collaboration as well as installs the security patch released in April 2021.

On the other hand, Huawei has recently confirmed the HarmonyOS Operating System and Huawei Full Scenario New Product launch conference will be held on June 2, where the company will announce HarmonyOS 2.0 publically for smartphones.

EMUI Version:

Huawei Mate Xs folding phone receiving latest EMUI 11 version 11.0.0.180 upgraded from 11.0.0.176 in China. On the other hand, Mate Xs users in Europe getting version EMUI 11.0.0.175 upgraded from 11.0.0.174.

Changelog:

  • App: Add a popular recommendation folder on the desktop, and add a new education center and Link Now application quick download icon for a smart recommendation of popular selected applications.
  • Bluetooth: Optimize the sound experience of Bluetooth headsets
  • Multi-screen collaboration: Fix the problem of failure to connect multi-screen collaboration in some scenarios
  • Security: Integrates the Android security patch released in April 2021.

*The Huawei Mate Xs European device changelog only brings April 2021 security patch.

Before you upgrade:

  1. We recommend you take a backup of your important data.
  2. Use a stable connection to download the update package.
  3. Do not forcefully turn off the phone, once the installation is started.

There are two ways that you can download this latest software update, both of these areas the following:

  2. Tap on System & updates
  3. Tap Software update
  4. Tap Check for Updates
  5. Download and Install
  6. Install

After the installation and restart, we recommend you let the system optimize the new application so your device can run smoothly on further commands.

VIA SUPPORT:

You can also request this update via the Support app with the following instructions.

  1. Open the Support app
  2. Go to the Services tab
  3. Tap on Update
  4. Download and Install
  5. Install

The Huawei Mate 20 Lite smartphone owners can upgrade their devices to EMUI 10.0 version 10.0.0.285 (C432E12R1P1) with an update size of 441MB.

Changelog:

With the release of the latest security patch, Huawei has also published the July 2021 EMUI device list. These devices are listed in the monthly and quarterly software rollout sections.

According to the information, the July 2021 security patch has different levels of exploits and issues including 21 high and 28 medium levels of CVE to enhance the system security.

To be mentioned, every device has had a pre-planned update cycle, which starts after its launch. For further improvements, Huawei releases new software updates for eligible device owners.
