Amid doubts on EMUI 11 eligibility, Huawei P40 Lite users grabs a new security patch

Since September 2020, Huawei is testing its device for EMUI 11, the latest OS skin on home ground as well as globally. Following the EMUI 11 testing, Huawei has released the EMUI 11 stable version for the P40, Mate 30, Nova 7, Nova 6 series, and other devices users in China.

Moreover, EMUI 11 beta testing for the Huawei P40 series is underway for global users. Some regions including Russia, Central Asia, and Asia Pacific P40 series users have received the stable EMUI 11 version via OTA updates.

Now, Huawei has begun releasing a new software update for Huawei P40 Lite users. This software update mainly brings the November 2020 security patch that fixes different levels of exploits and issues to enhance system security and overall device performance.

Meanwhile, Huawei P40 Lite and P40 Lite 5G smartphones are compatible to get EMUI 11, but it is not confirmed by the company yet, whether these devices will receive EMUI 11 or not. Currently, this device is running on EMUI 10.1.

What’s new in this update:

Version: Huawei P40 Lite smartphone users getting EMUI 10.1 version 10.1.0.261 with an update size of 728MB.

Security: Integrates Android security patches released in November 2020 for improved system security that fixes 3 critical and 15 high levels of CVEs.

Remember:

  • Currently, this update is rolling out in Europe.
  • The update is rolling out in batches so it may take some time/days to reach your device.
  • The update will not erase any data.

HOW TO UPDATE P40 Lite:

To download this update manually, go to Settings then System & updates, then open Software update, from here select Check for updates. If an update is available it’ll pop-up on your phone and an option of Download and install will appear. Press the option and start to download.

Alternatively, you can also request software updates through the Support app. To do this, open the Support app, go to the Service tab on the bottom bar, tap on the update, then select Check for updates and then download and install.
