2017’s Honor 7X getting VoWiFi, Smart Features and June security update

VoWiFi AKA voice over Wi-Fi is a useful feature and it’s already out for almost every eligible Honor device in India. Meanwhile, there’s a smartphone that was launched in 2017 and now it’s also receiving this calling feature.

Honor has pushed a new software update for Honor 7X, which brings VoWiFi, Huawei Assitant, Smart Charge, Battery capacity, and June 2020 security update.

Honor 7X update Changelog:

VoWiFi:

Enables the VoWifi feature for certain carriers.

Huawei Assistant: Adds Huawei Assistant to the home screen providing smart reminders, personalized news, and other content relevant to you.

Just swipe right on the home screen to access Huawei Assistant (or left if you are using a bi-directional language). Huawei Assistant can’t be accessed directly from AppGallery.

Battery: Adds the Smart Charge mode, reducing battery aging by adapting to your charging routine through AI learning and preventing the battery from being continuously charged when full. (This feature is enabled by default.)

Adds the Smart Battery Capacity feature, reducing battery aging by intelligently adjusting the battery capacity according to the battery status. Go to Settings > Battery > More battery settings and enable Smart Battery Capacity to try it out.

Security: Integrates Android security patches released in June 2020 for improved system security.

Details:

VoWiFi: Wi-Fi Calling feature enables users to use smartphones that support VoWiFi to dial numbers to use voice or video calls over Wi-Fi connection. Currently in India, only Jio and Airtel networks are offering VoWiFi services.

To activate Wi-Fi Calling:

You can activate the VoWiFi calling by going to Settings > Mobile network > Mobile data > Wi-Fi Calling > tap on Wi-Fi Calling slider to enable this feature.

Or via simply to Phone dialer > Settings > Wi-Fi Calling, tap the Wi-Fi Calling slider to enable this feature.

SOFTWARE VERSION:

The latest update for Honor 7X rolling out in India with EMUI 9.1 version 9.1.0.168 upgrading from EMUI 9.1.0.154. Users of Honor 7X will have to download a package size of 736MB.

  • Rollout will expand gradually and may take some time/days to reach your device.
