A huge 4.2GB security update released for Honor 10 on EMUI 10, includes Huawei Assistant, VoWiFi and more

Honor is currently upgrading the Honor 10 devices on EMUI 10 around the globe. On the other hand, users that received this major OS upgrade earlier this year, now getting a huge EMUI update.

Honor 10 users on EMUI 10, receiving a new update that installs Huawei Assistant, VoWiFi (WiFi Calling), Smart Charge, and May 2020 security patches. Including this new set of features, the software package size reaches at 4.26GB, which is huge as EMUI 10.0 OTA itself.

These features previously rolled out to a number of old devices from both Honor and Huawei campaigns. However, those update packages remained under 1.5GB.

Also, this is not the first time, when Huawei has sent a big size EMUI update to its device but the company only rarely releases this kind of updates.

Honor 10 Update Changelog:

Huawei Assistant: Adds Huawei Assistant to the home screen, providing smart reminders personalized news, and other content relevant to you.

Security: Integrates Android security patches released in May 2020 for improved system security.

Smart Charge: Not mentioned but it’s included in the update.

VoWiFi: Not mentioned but it’s included in the update.

Changelog DETAILS:

VoWiFi: Wi-Fi Calling feature enables users to use smartphones that support VoWiFi to dial numbers to use voice or video calls over Wi-Fi connection. Currently in India, only Jio and Airtel networks are offering VoWiFi services.

To activate Wi-Fi Calling:

You can activate the VoWiFi calling by going to Settings > Mobile network > Mobile data > Wi-Fi Calling > tap on Wi-Fi Calling slider to enable this feature.

Or via simply to Phone dialer > Settings > Wi-Fi Calling, tap the Wi-Fi Calling slider to enable this feature.

Huawei Assistant: Huawei Assistant provides smart reminders, personalized news, and other content relevant to you. The assistant is accessible via the home screen.

Just swipe right on the home screen to access Huawei Assistant (or left if you are using a bi-directional language). Huawei Assistant can’t be accessed directly from AppGallery.

Smart Charge: Preserve battery health by adapting to your charging routine. Charging may be paused to delay charging your device to 100% until needed.

Activate (default): Settings > Battery > More battery settings > Smart Charge.

May 2020 Security: The May 2020 security update brings Android patches from Huawei and Google, fixing different levels of exploits and issues within Huawei phones including 2 critical and 22 high and 2 Medium levels of CVEs.

VERSION:

Honor 10 receiving these features with EMUI version 10.0.0.179 and the update size of 4.26GB.
