It’s revealed recently that Huawei has applied for “Petal Pay” trademark, which has now acquired publication rights from the related patent authority with application number 55003481.

This is surely a new link to the chain that has started to take shape in the past few months with several other Petal trademarks. However, this one means a lot for Huawei and may really worry its competitor in the Chinese market.

Because the word Petal Pay indicates towards the entry in payment system market. But Cao Chong, president of the Global Financial Business Department of Huawei Enterprise BG confirmed that Huawei currently has no plans to enter the payment market and the company’s sole purpose is to help big companies to empower financial customers to achieve digital transformation.

To be known: Petal is a virtual currency launched by Huawei’s consumer business. Currently, 100 petals are 1 yuan.

Huawei Mobile Services has launched Google-like alternative apps such as petal search and petal map overseas. It now appears that Huawei will continue to expand the Petal family.

Huawei has already launched its alternative Google applications, including Petal Search and Petal Maps in the global market. As the company is looking forward to expanding the Petal family with the registration of more Petal patents including:

  • Petal Vision
  • Petal Keyboard
  • Petal Assistant
  • Petal Translate
  • Petal Mail

If completed, this could be a big collection of apps for the Huawei devices that would help the company to reduce the requirement of the Google apps and other third party apps for the consumers.
