New Kirin 9000S to power Huawei Mate 50

Huawei Mate 50 is the next flagship phone we are waiting for, the Chinese tech giant is working on this upcoming smartphone lineup to make it a success among consumers. Talking about something new for Huawei Mate 50 series, it’s now revealed that the company could use a new Kirin chipset on this smartphone.

According to the information coming from a well-known Weibo tipster, the Huawei Mate 50 series could feature a Kirin 9000S chipset. Previously, it was expected that the lineup will only use Qualcomm Snapdragon chipsets. However, this revaluation is surely amazing, as get to see the return of Kirin chipsets on this flagship.

The tipster further elaborated that Huawei Mate 50 lineup has a limited quantity of Kirin 9000S chipsets and the entire series will surely use Snapdragon chipsets. Still, there are more specs that could change until we reach the final release of the device.

Talking more on this matter, the series will be heavily promoted with 4G network access, while there are some models that could be able to use 5G. Meanwhile, we will wait to get some more input on this upcoming flagship as they continue to arrive in our corner.

Kirin 9000 Family:

Launched in 2020, Huawei introduced the Kirin 9000 series consisting of two chipsets – Kirin 9000 and Kirin 9000E. These two processors are based on a 5nm TSMC process and build with 15.3 billion transistors. Both have octa-core architecture (1+3+4), the latest Mali-G78 GPU for fast graphics processing, and Da Vinci Architecture 2.0 for AI task handling.

Back in March, Huawei launched the Kirin 9000L chipset with Huawei Mate 40E Pro 5G, which has its own uniqueness of featuring a Hexa core SoC architecture.

Kirin 9000L has 1 x Cortex-A77 at 3.13GHz + 2 x Cortex-A77 at 2.54GHz + 3 x Cortex-A55 at 2.05GHz. It features 22 core Mali-G78 GPU. In terms of NPU units, it has a large-core NPU + micro-core NPU (Neural Network Processing Unit).
