The US commerce secretary Wilbur Ross says licenses for US firms to sell components to Huawei will come very soon, in an interview with Bloomberg.

Ross said licenses would be coming “very shortly” and the government had received 206 requests. That’s a lot of applications – it’s frankly more than we would’ve thought,”.

In May, the US Commerce Department imposed a trade ban on Huawei that prohibits the company from purchasing US technologies, such as the use of Google Mobile services for its smartphones, buying chips and more.

The US alleges Huawei of being a national security threat, which Huawei has repeatedly denied.
