Huawei P30 series starts receiving October 2020 security update

A new software update is rolling out Huawei P30 series running on EMUI 10.1, which brings the security patch released in October 2020, which improves the system security and fixes 21 high-levels and 1 medium level CVE’s.

Version: Huawei P30 and P30 Pro grabbing the EMUI 10.1 version 10.1.0.169 that is upgraded from 10.1.0.168 in China.

In the meantime, Huawei has recruited the P30 devices in China for EMUI 11 beta testing and kicked off a number of betas builds for registered. Recently, Huawei has officially published an EMUI 11 rollout schedule, and according to that schedule, Huawei P30 and P30 Pro global users will receive EMUI 11 in the first quarter of 2021.

HOW TO UPDATE:

To download this update manually, go to Settings then System & updates, then open Software update, from here select Check for updates. If an update is available it’ll pop-up on your phone and an option of Download and install will appear. Press the option and start to download.

Alternatively, you can also request software updates through the Support app. To do this, open the Support app, go to the Service tab on the bottom bar, tap on the update, then select Check for updates and then download and install.

POINTS TO KNOW BEFORE UPDATE:

  1. Currently, this update is rolling in China.
  2. The update is rolling out in batches so it may take some time/days to reach your device.
  3. The update will not erase any data.
