Huawei Mate RS Porsche Design

Huawei Mate series and Porsche Design have a long history and soon, Huawei will start a new chapter with the upcoming “Ultimate Design” variant of the Huawei Mate 60 series.

Tipster FixedFocus recently said that Huawei Mate Porsche Design, which was previously identified as RS, will be renamed as “Ultimate Design”. This is a major change in the brand as well as the cooperation between the two firms.

The journey of the Huawei Mate series with Porsche Design started in 2016. Since then, the company has launched a special edition model in each Mate lineup. These collaborative smartphones include:

  • Huawei Mate 9 Porsche Design
  • Huawei Mate 10 Porsche Design
  • Huawei Mate 20 RS Porsche Design
  • Huawei Mate 30 RS Porsche Design
  • Huawei Mate 40 RS Porsche Design
  • Huawei Mate 50 RS Porsche Design

Why Huawei is opting out of Porsche Design?

It is reported that the cooperation agreement of Huawei with Porsche Design is ending in December this year. What’s more interesting is that the Chinese tech maker doesn’t intend to renew it by all means.

Instead, the company is moving with its own trademark name, which is reported as “Ultimate Design”. Although, there’s no explanation available on this matter but we could link the upcoming changes with US restrictions.

Huawei may not want to rely on foreign companies to support its flagship products. Therefore, it is best to be self-reliant even in design. But we can’t confirm whether this move is only about self-reliance.

However, the tipster mentioned that Huawei has claimed the trademark rights of the “Ultimate” keyword. But there’s some confusion about the current use, which will require more information to understand.

Launch date?

Currently, Huawei has only launched standard Mate 60 and Mate 60 Pro models in China. Past report reveals that the company will hold a launch conference this month to officially unveil the entire Mate 60 devices. This includes two more variants – Mate 60 Pro+ and Mate 60 Ultimate Design.

But we’re waiting for an official announcement to keep you posted.
