Huawei Mate 70 Series could be the first lineup to discontinue the iconic RS Porsche Design model next year. This may be a major shift in launch strategy for the company and for next year’s Mate devices.
Tipster – FixedFocus reveals that Huawei is about to conclude its partnership with Porsche later this year. It means that the Huawei Mate 60 series might be the last flagship device to consist of an RS Porsche Design model.
The release date of the upcoming Huawei Mate 60 series could be around September this year. According to the input, Huawei has no plans to renew its partnership with the corresponding brand.
This is the second longest collaboration that Huawei is about may drop after Leica, which was later picked by Xiaomi. For now, Huawei has not made any official announcement about the Porsche Design partnership.
Entry of GTS:
The registration of several trademarks shows that Huawei has applied for future Mate series names including the “GTS” variant, which suggests its inclusion in the main lineup. It’s also associated with Porsche and Huawei may change lanes from RS to GTS. Still, it’s just an speculation.
Huawei and Porsche Design:
The Porsche Design Huawei Mate Series was a collaboration project between Porsche Design and Huawei since 2016. The Porsche Design Huawei Mate 9, Mate 10, Mate RS, Mate 20 RS, and Watch 2 were released, featuring the Porsche Design logo on the front and the back of the device.
The company continued the trend of a Porsche Design with the Mate 30 and Mate 40 series as well. However, we will have to wait to find out Huawei’s planning with Huawei Mate 60 RS Porsche Design and which direction it would lead to the Huawei Mate 70 series.
