Huawei Consumer Business CEO, Richard Yu told media on the sidelines of IFA 2019 that Huawei is unveiling Mate 30 series in Munich for the global market and will first be sold in the Chinese market.

Yu said we’ll wait for the EU market, and if US policy does not changes for Huawei, the company will use the Android Open Source Project (AOSP) and let consumer install the Google apps by themselves under a new solution.

“Huawei is investigating the solution to allow consumers to install applications of their own choice,” told Yu.

Last month, a Google spokesman told that the Mate 30 cannot be sold with licensed Google apps and services due to the U.S. ban on sales to Huawei. A temporary reprieve that the U.S. government announced last week does not apply to new products such as the Mate 30.

Under these circumstances, Huawei can only use the open-source Android but cannot use Google mobile services such as Google Play, Google map, Gmail, and more.

In the lack of these services, Huawei may not launch its upcoming Mate 30 series in the overseas market after the official unveiling, said people familiar with the matter.

Apart from the global market, the company can still launch its Mate 30 smartphones on the home ground and build its initial sells performance, where it doesn’t need Google’s support, said the sources.

According to Huawei, the Mate 30 series will be officially unveiled on September 19 in Munich, Germany. For more information check the article linked below.
