Huawei smartphone growth q1 2023

It seems like Huawei grabbing its foot back in the smartphone market share despite lacking 5G in the newest flagship devices. It’s revealed that Huawei has achieved growth in China’s smartphone shipment for the Q1 of 2023.

According to the data coming from counterpoint research, Huawei has achieved 41% year-over-year growth in smartphone sales in Q1 2023. Meanwhile, the company was operating at 6.2% in the Q1 of 2022. This is a major progress made by the company within a year.

It’s noted that Huawei’s steady growth is contributed by Nova 10 series and Huawei Mate 50 series. These were launched in 2022 and cover mid-range and premium segments. The research also mentions that Huawei has garnered such a growth effect despite selling 4G smartphones.

New phones

This year has brought even more possibilities for Huawei to expand this market share. In March, Huawei unveiled various new devices among Chinese consumers including the flagship, Huawei P60 lineup, Mate X3 foldable phone alongside various new wearables, and Enjoy 60 devices.

Without wasting time, Huawei also introduced a new mid-range Nova series model, Nova 11. These phones are very stylish and appeal to the customers.

All of these phones are resuming Huawei’s pursuit of power with new camera technologies, which is alluring the attention at first glance. Furthermore, the new design technique used in the Huawei P60 and Nova 11 lineup is pretty interesting. These recently launched devices are expected to provide boost for Huawei’s overall shipment in the home market.

Top Hierarchy:

Looking at the charts, Apple is leading the Chinese smartphone sales graph with 6% growth in the first quarter of 2021 with a 19.9% percent market share. Oppo comes second with a 3% yearly decline and a market share of 18.3%. Vivo has the third spot with a 15 YoY decline. Huawei’s former subsidiary, Honor also saw a massive decline of 16% and sits on fourth spot. Xiaomi may also not be happy with its yearly decline of 14%.

The market keeps on falling:

China’s smartphone sales fell 5% YoY in Q1 2023, reaching the lowest Q1 sales figure since 2014. This was an improvement from the double-digit YoY declines seen in previous quarters as well as a sign of bottoming out.
