Kirin is once again in discussion among Huawei smartphone users and the internet community and recently, these enthusiasts suggested individual takes on the name of the next flagship Kirin chipset.

A Weibo tipster posted that the next Huawei Kirin flagship chipset should not be called Kirin 9 series such as 9000 if it will release. The tipster note mentioned anything specific on this matter and we are not speculating anything else either.

However, the comment is full of unique naming that you should know. One user suggested that the new flagship could be Kirin K9 Gen 1, inspired by Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1.

Some other suggestions are – K9V1, k9v2, Kirin 10, Kirin 9999, and more. It’s good to see that people are excited about the return of the Kirin despite there being no official confirmation about its existence at the moment.

However, Huawei keeps on digging deep into the world of chipset design, and its chip-making subsidiary, HiSilicon continues to move on to technologies that are left unexplored.

Adding to this, a smartphone screenshot shows a new flagship Kirin chipset “KC10” on a test version of Huawei Mate 50 Pro. The chipset is only used for testing purposes and insights reveal that the company had used this new chipset design internally.

In production, the Huawei Mate 50 Pro actually uses Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chip. However, there are no models released with Kirin KC10 among consumers.

Currently, HiSilicon is banned from printing new chips from TSMC or any other chip producer but the company is free to conduct chip design research. This enables Huawei to test new chips, as much as it can.
