Huawei confirms Kirin 990, includes Ascend neural units for maximum AI performance

On August 23, Huawei launched its new AI processor and AI computing framework. At the event, Eric Xu, Huawei’s Rotating Chairman revealed some information about Huawei’s upcoming flagship processor Kirin 990 and confirmed its launching for IFA 2019.

Huawei Mate X reportedly confirmed to feature Kirin 990

Xu said the upcoming Kirin 990 is based on Neural processing units powered by Ascend Lite and Ascend Tiny cores. The official confirms that the processor will be launched at IFA 2019.

According to Huawei Ascend processor is built on top of Da Vinci architecture and delivers the topmost performance for the AI processing. By taking this as a note, we’ll wait to see how much intelligent Kirin 990 will be.
