The 5G network technology, the fifth generation of wireless technology offers more than just a faster network such as reduced latency, and improve the flexibility of wireless services.

Most of the network carriers firm had been launched the 5G cellular network and some are still working on it. In this line, according to the latest information Huawei and Suzhou mobile recently completed a 5G indoor positioning capabilities authentication in the Suzhou Metro.

After the hidden positioning of the underground base station pRRU, it’s observed that 90% of the subway platform including the station hall has been recognized with 3 to 5 meters positioning preciseness of the wireless network.

As per the information, it is also considered as the first-ever live network verification of the 5G internal positioning function in the world. It is also said that this is the first time in the history of Suzhou Mobile, where the company used Huawei’s 5G LampSite+MEC inward arrangement solution for the subway.

To be mentioned, China Mobile Suzhou Software Technology Co., Ltd (AKA China Mobile Suzhou R&D Center), a wholly-owned subsidiary of China Mobile Communications Group Co., Ltd., works to provide customers with complete solutions, professional industry applications, and comprehensive services.

About the LampSite and MEC (Multi-access Edge Computing) technology used in this procedure, it measures the wireless signal characteristic parameters of the 5G terminal and uses a positioning algorithm to estimate the physical position of the terminal through the joint effort of both the technology.

Regarding this matter, Huawei added that by using the LampSite+MEC technology it’s easier to deliver 5G inward arrangement technology to make a mass network, which promises the 5G communication and positioning capabilities at the same time.

On the other hand, Huawei just concluded the IEEE Wireless Communications and Networking Conference (WCNC 2021). The event provides a platform for experts across academia and industry to discuss and promote the development of wireless communications and network technologies.

Most of Deng Li's smartphones are from the Huawei ecosystem and his first Huawei phone was Ascend Mate 2 (4G). As a tech enthusiast, he keeps exploring new technologies and inspects them closely. Apart from the technology world, he takes care of his garden.
