The sensor measures the amount of oxygen in your blood based on how the light is passed and delivers data. Based on this data, the percentage of oxygen is known in their blood. For those unaware, the normal blood oxygen level ranges between 95 to 100 percent.

The Huawei Watch 3 and 3 Pro comes with a SpO2 measurement feature that can automatically detect your blood oxygen level and make you alert in case it’s low. Meanwhile, you can also check it manually by following some simple instructions on the watch itself. Here’s how to measure:

Measure SpO2

  • Wear the watch correctly on your wrist and keep your arm still.
  • From the home screen, press the Up button, swipe on the screen, and tap on SpO2 > then tap Measure
  • Keep your body still during SpO2 measurement

Note: If you are not wearing the watch correctly on your wrist, an error message will show up. In that case, read the on-screen instructions for how to wear it correctly and measure again.

Enable automatic SpO2 measurement

  • Open Health app > go to Devices > your device name > Health monitoring > enable Automatic SpO2 measurement
  • It will automatically measure the SpO2 when it detects you still
  • Tap on Low SpO2 alert to set the lower limit of your SpO2, it will alert when you are not asleep

Important tips:

  • Swipe right on the watch screen to stop measuring. The measurement will run in the background if the notification arrives for an incoming call or alarm.
  • The SpO2 measurement will take around 2 minutes and the data provided should not be taken for medical use, it is recommended to visit a doctor in case you feel uncomfortable.
  • Your watch will automatically measure your SpO2 during workout sessions if you have enabled Mountain hike, Skiing, Snowboarding, Cross country skiing, hike, or trail run. Swipe up or down on the watch screen to view SpO2 data.
  • The SpO2 measurement may also be affected by some external factors such as: Blood perfusion, tattoos, hair on your arm, a dark completion, lowering, moving your arm, or low.
