Honor 10 and V10 gets HarmonyOS operating system, launched in 2018 and 2017 respectively

HarmonyOS is the prime discussion among Honor users and now the closed beta HarmonyOS rollout is started for Honor 10 and V10 smartphones in China. Bringing a new user experience and user interface for the Honor 10 and V10 users.

In 2017, Huawei’s former subsidiary – Honor unveiled its latest Honor View10 also known as Honor 10. This phone is powered by Kirin 970 octa-core processor, a 5.99-inch FHD+ display, dual rear cameras, a 3750mAh battery, and is based on EMUI 8.0 software system.

The product was later proceeded by Honor View20, which is one of the best-selling devices from Honor. However, let’s stay on these devices for the moment.

On the other, Honor 10 is a device that most of the consumer still cherished in their hands and the phone still do the work. According to the specs sheet, Honor 10 comes with a 5.84-inch bezel-less full view 2.0 display and packs an AI features powered camera system.

Similar to the Honor view10, Honor 10 is also powered by Kirin 970 chipset with an inbuilt NPU processor unit. Moreover, the phone has a stylish design and there’s a 24Mp front-facing camera to take groupies (group selfies) instead of “a selfie with a group in a blurry background” entirely possible.

Software:

Honor 10 and View10 devices run EMUI software based on the Android operating system. Looking specifically, Honor 10 comes with EMUI 8.1 and Honor View10 comes with EMUI 8.0. However, the company has provided continuous support for these two and enabled two major upgrades including EMUI 9.0 and EMUI 10.0.

Still, these phones run EMUI 10.0 software across the globe. Only until, June 2, when Huawei launched HarmonyOS and announced that Honor 10 and Honor V10 is also a part of this major software rollout.

Even though the HarmonyOS rollout remains enclosed for the Chinese consumers. The excitement among Honor 10 and V10 users could reflect on any ground.

Honor 10 and V10 HarmonyOS beta started:

Moving on, Honor 10 and V10 has finally started receiving HarmonyOS 2.0 beta builds in China. This new operating system comes with plenty of new features for both of the devices and provides a better user experience compared to the existing EMUI 10.

For your information, this rollout is being conducted for the non-log users who have successfully registered for the closed beta testing. On the other side, the log version rollout remains unannounced.

Here are the new features that come with HarmonyOS 2.0 for Honor 10 and V10.

Home-screen: Swiping up on the app icon generates a service widget, which can be resized dragged to a new location, or added to your custom home screen.

Control Panel: Swiping down from the upper-right edge of the screen takes you to Control Panel. Device Control access has been added to the shortcut switches panel so that you can control all of your devices with the same ease as navigating on your phone.

Service Center: If you swipe up from the lower left or lower right corner on the screen, the system will lead to the Service Center. This is the place, where all of your collected service widgets are stored and ready to offer access to your desired services.

Smart Folder: HarmonyOS adds support for app categorization and management. By pressing down on a standard folder displays a large folder, which offers direct access to desired apps.

HarmoynOS Fonts: HarmonyOS brings support for step-free font Weight adjustments and adjusts the size of the font itself.

Smart Home: Offers nimble, intelligent operations on household appliances, such as quickly accessing the phone’s network from the devices, controlling screenless devices, installation-free apps, and direct service access, which can be accessed by tapping your phone against the selected household appliance, or bringing your phone into the proximity to the appliance.

Smart Office: Under this label, HarmonyOS brings you the capability to transfer files on cross-device platforms without requiring a data cable with the power of Huawei Share, which increases the file transfer speed and provides faster and secure file sharing between Huawei smartphones, computers, and tablets.

Seamless Performance: All operations, including touches and swipes, are smoother and more natural, with images and videos loading more quickly as well.

Task manager: Support task status saving infrequently used apps, meaning that even after you’ve switched to another app, you can pick up a previous task right from where you had left off.

HarmonyOS Security:

App Guard: The App Guard mode is enabled by default, to ensure that all apps subject deep scans for malicious behavior, security vulnerabilities, privacy risks, and other related behaviors while being installed. This prevents risky apps from being installed while helping safeguard the secure running environment of the entire system.

Certifications: The TEE OS security kernel has obtained the CC EAL5+ certification, indicating the highest security level for a global commercial operating system kernel. The HarmonyOS operating system has obtained CC EAL4+ security certification, China’s highest security certification.
