Huawei Developer Conference 2019: Schedule, Activities, Announcements and More



Huawei has set the time and avenue for its 2019 Developer Conference that will be officially kick off in Dongguan City, China from August 9 to 11.

Also, this is the first time when the company held an official developer conference at the company’s headquarters, showing its importance and now become one of the most hyped developer party Huawei has ever organized.

Although the company will make several announcements but there are a few that the consumers want to know about and eagerly looking forward to.


So let’s look at the details of HDC 2019 and at the end we’ll discuss the potential announcements that can take place at the event.

HDC 2019 is promoted as a new technological revolution for next-gen technologies including 5G, Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Internet of Things (IoT).

According to Huawei, there will be more than 200 themed sessions and will be attended by around 1500 industry partners of Huawei, as well as about 5000 global developers.


August 9, 2019 Afternoon at 14:30 (GMT+8): The conference will start with the keynote speech in Dongguan Basketball Center at the intersection of Dongguan Eastern Express Road and Songshan Lake Avenue in Liaobu Town, Dongguan City.

Although, this year’s HDC is themed for 5G, AI and IoT but the main anticipation of this conference is the announcement of a new operating system, which the company has developed to use as an Android alternative but expected to arrive in Honor branded Smart TV.

Yu Chengdong, CEO of Huawei announced on Weibo that there’s a new technology coming at the event. Also, Dr. Wang Chenglu, President of Software Engineering, Huawei Consumer Business Group AKA the caretaker of EMUI also joining the event.

Both of these officials are confirmed for the keynote speech and it’s expected that they have something big on their sleeves, apart from the launch of EMUI 10.


On August 10, Honor president, Zhao Ming will unveil its new Smart Screen (TV) with a new operating system (Hongmeng).

Other announcement includes an update on Huawei Mate X, 5G development and its role, new SDK and development tools for developers.

Huawei Forum maintenance completed one week earlier

Today, Huawei has officially announced that Huawei Forum maintenance has successfully been concluded one week earlier than the actual schedule. Now, the services are being resumed such as Huawei Club’s PC, APP, and WAP versions.

Huawei users can now visit Huawei Forum and continue the HarmonyOS 2.0 testing using the My Huawei App and WAP version of upgrade and early adopters.

Huawei club maintenance resumed

According to the previous information, Huawei has published an official notice on July 25 regarding the upgrade maintenance for Huawei Forum between July 26, 2021, to August 9, 2021, 22:00.

With the Huawei Forum’s up-gradation announcement, the company also posted an apology  for the inconvenience during the maintenance “Thank you Forum members for your continued understanding and support of the Huawei Forum!”


Huawei achieved 40 million HarmonyOS installations:

At the Huawei P50 series launch event, Huawei has confirmed that so far HarmonyOS 2.0 brand new operating system has been installed in over 40 million devices.

The rapid progress clearly reflects that Huawei is working as much as fast it can to deliver the next level user’s experience to the least possible device.

The Petal One integrates 3 premium services at relatively less costly compared to individual purchases. This service is similar to what Apple offers under the Apple One subscription bundle.

This all-in-one package includes Huawei Cloud Space Premium Package with 200GB capacity, Huawei Super Music VIP, and Huawei Video Gold Member & Partner Zone VIP membership.

What services Petal One includes:

The premium music service in Petal One has millions of libraries with all kinds of audio and music, while the premium video subscription offers high-quality video programs and movies. Meanwhile, the 200GB of Cloud storage can be shared between 5 family members.

People with Petal One can cancel their membership anytime. Currently, Petal One only comes under monthly subscription, though Huawei could offer lengthy plans such as quarterly or half-yearly in the future.

To be mentioned, Petal One provides a multi-scenario membership service and can be supported on multiple devices including mobile phones, tablets smart wearables, and smart screens.

Huawei Cloud service

The Huawei Cloud service offers a safe place to store your crucial data. It takes automatic backup of the whole device that can be restored anytime very conveniently.

Talking about privacy, this service is completely secure and has a ‘Time Machine’ feature that can help you manage all your data in a single place. Furthermore, all this data can be synchronized on multiple devices to manage it over different smartphones and tablets.

As per the Huawei Member Center app, the Petal One will be available for early buyers from August 28 to August 30. While full access to this service will be opened from September 1. The starting price for the Petal One bundle is 79 yuan (12 USD) for a monthly subscription.

Huawei Sound X 2021 launched with new design and powered by HarmonyOS

Huawei has launched its latest smart speaker – Huawei Sound X 2021. This new speaker comes with an elegant design and colorful lights that provide an ergonomic appearance while listening to music.

Huawei Sound X 2021 is inspired by electronic tubes and pays tribute to the classic tube amplifiers. The smart speaker has a 360-degree all-metal soundhole, 3D curved surface seamless technology, highlighting the high-end quality design.

Huawei Sound X 2021 comes with a 175.6mm diameter, 224mm height, and 3140g of weight. Similar to its processor, the Huawei Sound X comes in interstellar black.

48 full-color LED lights surround 360-degree, creating 7+1 kinds of magical lighting effects. The indicator light shows Guidance connection, voice response, status indication, music dynamic effect, light wallpaper, etc.


The new generation of Huawei Sound X is the first three-way smart speaker jointly designed by Devalet. The speaker unit has one 4.75 inch woofer, four 1.5 inch full-range speakers, one 1.25 inch tweeter, and two passive radiators.
