Development of Hongmeng OS includes 4-5000 developers, was originally planned to release in 2020

Hongmeng or HarmonyOS is a self-developed operating system came from the courtesy of Huawei and the company has revealed that it has invested heavily in its development.

Yu Chengdong, CEO of Huawei’s Consumer Business Group, during his keynote at HDC 2019, said Honmgneg OS has stronger performance, high data security, distributed ability and future-oriented architecture that supports cross-platform devices.

In an interview after the conference, Yu revealed that the Research and Development (R&D) of Hongmeng OS has invested 4000-5000 people.

Yu said Huawei had originally planned to release Hongmeng in 2020 but due to the ongoing issues with the US, the company has accelerated the release.

Hongmeng OS is set to make its launch debut with Honor Smart Screen on August 10 at Huawei Developer Conference and will expand to other platforms later.
