During the 2023 Global Mobile Broadband Forum, Huawei estimated that the global demand for intelligent computing will exceed 100 times in 2025 of the current demand.

Li Peng, Huawei’s Senior Vice President and President of Carrier BG attended and delivered a speech on “Accelerating the Positive 5G Business Cycle and Embracing a More Prosperous 5.5G”. Note: 5.5G is 5G-A (5G-Advanced), which is an evolved and enhanced version of 5G. Network capabilities such as speed and latency will be improved by 10 times.

He pointed out that the development of AI applications represented by large models has brought explosive demand for intelligent computing power. He predicted that by 2025, the demand for intelligent computing power will reach 100 times the current level.

He said that to fully unleash the potential of this computing power, more advanced network capabilities are needed:

  • On the one hand, larger bandwidth and lower latency are needed to better “connect intelligence.”
  • On the other hand, as network traffic models change, the network needs “endogenous intelligence” to continue to improve the level of automation and intelligence.

Li Peng said, “5G is already on the right path to commercial success, and 5G-A is a natural choice for 5G development.” He believes that the future mobile network should have six major characteristics: “10 Gigabit downlink, Gigabit uplink, deterministic network, 100 billion IoT, integrated synaesthesia, and native intelligence.”

Most of Deng Li's smartphones are from the Huawei ecosystem and his first Huawei phone was Ascend Mate 2 (4G). As a tech enthusiast, he keeps exploring new technologies and inspects them closely. Apart from the technology world, he takes care of his garden.
