11 Camera modes and features to try on your Huawei P30 and P30 Pro

Huawei P30 series offers a versatile camera system that comes with many new features and camera technologies that you can explore and use in every aspect of photography.

Huawei officially announced Android Q/EMUI 10 update for P30 series, Mate 20 series, Honor V20 and Magic 2 devices

Compared to its predecessor P20 series, P30 series comes with upgraded camera hardware, for an instance, P30 Pro features Quad camera setup of 40 MP wide-angle lens, a 20 MP Ultra Wide Angle Lens with f/2.2 aperture, an 8 MP Periscope Telephoto lens with f/3.4 aperture and a Time-of-Flight(TOF) Camera.



P30 series has also introduced its new RYYB (Red, Yellow, Yellow, Blue) color matrix replacing the green pixels from its primary three color layout RGGB. The company has also increased the ISO level by 40% as high as 204,800 and 409,600 respectively. that help users to shoot bright clear photos even in the darkest environments.

Another revolutionary camera feature of P30 series is its Zooming capability, the P30 Pro has 5X optical zoom, 10X hybrid zoom, and 50X digital zoom. And the P30 has 3X Optical zoom, 5X hybrid zoom, and 30X digital zoom.

The P30 Pro also supports dual OIS (Optical Images Stabilization) AI-powered smart Stabilization for steady video capturing.

1. Dual View Video:

Thanks to the wide angle main and a telephoto lens, Huawei P30 and P30 Pro can record both the details of a subject and the context around, displaying the close-up and wide-angle views at the same time.

How to use:

Open Camera > More > Dual-View. Focus your Phone on the scene you want to record and tap on the record button.

2. Super Zoom:

Want to take a distant view with your camera? You can use the telephoto function of your phone to bring you closer to the view.

How to use:
Open Camera > Photo mode, then point towards the subject you to want to shoot from a distance, slide the digital zoom ring upwards or zoom manually via finger to adjust the focus. After the adjustment click on the subject to focus. and click on the shutter button to take the photo.

3. Super Macro:

You can shoot pictures of your subject with more close and personal angles. With AI-powered Super macro feature users can easily take close-up shots of anything.

How to use:

Open Camera > Photo, then gradually move your camera close to the subject under Photo mode while holding your device steady. When your camera is close enough, it will automatically trigger Super macro mode.



4. Silky Water:

The silky water feature lets you capture silky smooth pictures of waterfalls and rivers.

How to use it:
Open Camera > More > Light Painting > Silky water, then hold your phone steady, tap on the shutter button to start shooting. A preview of the image will be displayed in the viewfinder.

5. Black and White Photo:

Sometimes it’s good to take black and white pictures, the monochrome mode filters out the color of P30 series, helps you to bring out light and shadow and give photos a more realistic feeling.

How to use:

Open Camera > More > Monochrome, and then tap the shutter button to take photos in black and white.

6. Wide Aperture Mode:

Wide aperture mode produces photographs with a shallow depth of field. This creates a blurred background that lends greater emphasis to the photo’s subject.

How to use:

Go to Camera > select Aperture and touch the screen on the viewfinder to select the focal point, focal length and aperture level and then touch the shutter button to capture the image.

7. Portrait Mode:

To use Portrait mode to add extra beauty to your photographs, including beauty effect and background blur, so the subject in your photos looks more beautiful.

How to use:

Open Camera > Portrait, from here you can select Blurred effect and Beauty Effect.



8. HDR mode:

HDR mode can help you improve the effects of light and shadows in your photos, giving your photos sharper details. When HDR mode is enabled, the camera will use different exposure settings to quickly take several shots and combine them. The result is a photo with sharper details in bright and mid-tone areas.

How to use:

Open Camera > More > HDR, hold your phone still and touch the shutter button capture an image.

9. Selfie Mode:

Both P30 and P30 Pro comes with the same 32MP, f/2.0 aperture front-facing camera that can shoot amazing selfies.

How to use:

Open Camera and touch the small camera icon on the right side of the shutter button and adjust the selfie modes according to your requirements.



10. Night Shot:

Compared to standard photography modes, Night shot mode resolves the limitations created by low light and night shooting to give your photos sharp details with improved brightness and colors.

How to use:

Open Camera > select Night, Touch the shutter button, the camera will take multiple shots and combine them.

11. Moon Mode:

Moon mode can be accessible in P30 pro and helps to adequately capture the beauty of the moon along with fine details like moonbeams and shadows.

Note: To identify the scene correctly, you need to enable the Master AI from the top toolbar.

How to use:

Open Camera > Photo, spread two fingers apart in the viewfinder to zoom in to 10x or more, then aim your camera at the moon. After identifying the moon, your camera will automatically recommend the Moon mode to help you get a clear shot.
