Huawei’s ‘GPU Turbo’ technology first introduced in Honor Play gaming phone, later on, the company has planned to expand this tech in its other phones on a timeline. The question arises what’s this so-called technology, let’s find out.

Huawei announced the “scary technology”, named GPU Turbo. As the name suggests, it can make the mobile phone graphics processing speed significantly improved. GPU Turbo improves the graphics processing efficiency of smartphones by 60%, and the power consumption has also been reduced by 30%.

The GPU Turb technology is dominated by Huawei Labs 2012, and other system software departments cooperate. According to media reports, the commercial value of this technology in the future will reach $10 billion.

Huawei’s GPU Turbo principle is similar to that of the EMUI operating system and the processing collaboration between the GPU and the CPU. The use of GPU acceleration to enhance the system’s smooth running hardware performance.

In an interview with Tencent “Shenzhen,” President Zhao Ming stated that GPU Turbo has gotten rid of the fact that Android phones are purely hardware-dependent or system-dependent, and has started to solve the problem of hampering the fragmentation and slowness of Android phones. It is a landmark evolution.

It is understood that Huawei engineers have written hundreds of thousands of codes for GPU Turbo in the EMUI operating system. This is also an important reason why Huawei claims that this technology is difficult to follow.

“I believe many people will study and learn this technology after we release it, but this involves the improvement of our hardware integration, software, and hardware collaboration, so this may not be easy to follow.” Zhao Ming said.

Due to software and hardware limitations, the maximum frame rate of most games is now limited to 60 frames, but the GPU Turbo capability is not limited to this. The excess capacity can be used to improve the quality of the game. GPU Turbo can achieve similar HDR quality through GPU Turbo when the game does not support HDR.

And the game is just the beginning. The technology can be applied to optimize the visual experience of the whole scene in the future (multimedia, AR, VR, etc.).

This new technology can be more lasting and smooth, stable operation of large games near full frame, allowing game players makes it easy to deal with complex game scenes and to experience the full frame experience of a cool, refreshing, and zero-toning game.
