VoWiFi feature update rolling out for Huawei P30 Pro in India

Honor is expanding the support of VoWiFi for its devices in India. Now following the footsteps of its subsidiary, Huawei has finally started upgrading its phones with this latest Wi-Fi calling features.

Huawei P30 Pro users in India begin receiving a new EMUI software update that brings the VoWiFi feature as well as February 2020 security enhancements.

VoWiFi or Wi-Fi Calling feature enables users to use smartphones that support VoWiFi to dial numbers to use voice or video calls over Wi-Fi connection.

Changes in this update:

Calls: Enables the VoWiFi features for a better voice and video call experience with certain carriers.

Security: Integrates Android security patches released in February 2020 for improved system security.

Details:

The February 2020 security update comes with Google security patches and fixes 2 critical and 20 high levels of Common Vulnerabilities and Exposures (CVE).

One of the critical CVE-2020-0022 AKA BlueFrag is also fixed in this update, which allows silent code execution on the device that leads to data theft and spreading malware.

How to activate the Wi-Fi Calling feature:

You can activate the VoWiFi calling by going to Settings > Mobile network > Mobile data > Wi-Fi Calling > tap on Wi-Fi Calling slider.

Or via simply to Phone dialer > Settings > Wi-Fi Calling, tap the Wi-Fi Calling slider to enable this feature.

Huawei P30 Pro EMUI Version:

Honor P30 Pro getting VoWiFi feature with EMUI 10.0.0.193 upgrading from 10.0.0.179 and size of over 1.05GB.

Via Settings:

  1. Open Settings
  2. Click on ‘System & updates’
  3. Click on ‘Software update’
  4. Click on ‘CHECK FOR UPDATES’
  5. Click on ‘Download and install’

Via HiCare:

  1. Open HiCare app
  2. Click on ‘Services’ tab
  3. Click on ‘Update’
  4. Click on ‘CHECK FOR UPDATES’
  5. Click on ‘Download and install’

Recently got this update for p30 pro (India) with February security patch and VoWiFi feature. It also added swipe from bottom to go to previous app gesture (similar to iphone and one plus) from HuaweiP30
