Two Android buddies are about to clash in the foldable phone genre because both Samsung and Google are prepared to launch their new fold phones very soon.

It’s interesting to see that Google has raised the bar of Pixel devices and prepare to bring its first smartphone to take on competitiveness. This is a direct challenge to its Android partner and the largest phone seller, Samsung.

Over the past week, there are new leaks on Google Pixel Fold and Samsung Galaxy Fold 5. These are the two phones that will come from each campaign respectively.

Let’s examine what we’ve in hand.

Google Fold:

Google Pixel Fold has a unique design, which is quite squarish. It is using a dual display, the first is the main and the second is a cover screen. While it equips there are three cameras on the rear side.

Well-known tipster, Evan Blass shared the first look at the Google Pixel Fold. He also shared key specs including a 5.5-inch cover screen, which is 3.1 inches wide. The internal screen is also 5.5 inches tall and it is 6.2 inches wide once unfolded. The overall weight of the device is 283 grams.

Google Pixel Fold Render

The cover screen’s camera stands at 9.5MP with ƒ/2.2 aperture and an 84-degree field of view. Inside the fold, you will find an 8MP selfie cam that delivers 1.12 μm pixels and ƒ/2.0 aperture. The device is IPX8 water resistant, has USB type-C 3.2 port, and a new-gen chipset with two color options Obsidian or Porcelain.

Another thing to note in renders is that the phone has large bezels on all sides of the main screen. Google has seemingly compromised the screen-to-body ratio in order to achieve a fixed foldable screen with the lowest defect possibility.

Samsung Galaxy Fold 5

Samsung Galaxy Fold 5 will carry an identical appearance to the Galaxy Fold 4. However, the new model focuses on weight cuts, which will bring a little bit of comfort while holding the smartphone in hand. Furthermore, it is expected to come with a new hinge, which is brand new to the Samsung ecosystem. (Source – SmartPrix)

Huawei Mate X3:

It would be interesting to see Samsung and Google going into the battlefield to introduce new fold devices with Android but in my view, a third player has already won the game. Yes, we’re talking about Huawei Mate X3 because it’s the lightest, biggest, and thinnest foldable phone ever released in the side folding genre.

Also, it provides high screen pixel density and a large 4800mAh battery within that thin body. Moreover, this phone packs new technologies, which makes it durable a stylish all around.

But new challengers are always welcome and we’ll look forward to Google Pixel Fold and Samsung Galaxy Fold 5.
