Within a time span, Huawei rolls out a different number of software updates for its devices. These software updates add new optimizations, features, improvements, and fix bugs. On the other hand, the major OTA updates come to change the entire look of the user interface and the feature that ramp up the user experience.

But every day, Huawei innovates new things, and the company doesn’t delay to roll them out to the Huawei device owners. As recently, the company began to send a new software package for smartphone owners including the Huawei P30 series, Mate 20 series, and Nova 5T devices.

This update is currently released on EMUI 11 platform and comes with a new changelog. So, what this changelog contains? Well, it has a number of new apps. Yes, you are reading it right but what are they?

There are two main changes that this software update has, which consist of improvements for the system and adds new apps.

According to the changelog, the update Improves system stability in certain scenarios and adds quick download shortcuts for the following apps:

  • Petal Search
  • Reader
  • Petal Maps
  • Member Center

Furthermore, it adds GameCenter and SkyTone apps.

Aside from these, some of the recipients of this package also installed the latest security patch for better system security. Since some of these apps support EMUI 10.1 and EMUI 10, the Chinese tech giant likely to give this software package to more smartphones but there’s no confirmation on that available at the moment.

A point to be noted that Huawei P40 and Mate 40 series, as well as Mate 30 series, have been shipped with these apps pre-installed and some of the models received Petal Maps update later on.

From the current perspective, we can expect that Huawei will further expand this update to more devices and more regions. Because this is not the first time when Huawei tried to install additional apps in its phones through software updates.

Increasing user engagements:

Last year in May, Huawei installed Huawei Assistant (app) and Smart Charge (feature) to its old smartphones via OTA software updates. These changes done in the system clearly reflect the setting and in the app section of the smartphones.

Through these changes, Huawei is increasing user engagement for these apps and trying to broaden its user base, which very much possible because Huawei has a huge number of existing smartphone users.
