A new leak revealed that the upcoming Kirin chipset could surpass Snapdragon 778G chipset in terms of performance. The latest input comes amid reports of the return of the Kirin chip after it halted operations in 2020.

Tipster FixedFocus has come up with a new leak, indicating that the new Kirin is going to be better than Qualcomm Snapdragon 778G. On the other hand, the chip is placed below Snapdragon 8+ platform. However, the performance could reach around Kirin 980, and the daily output of the chip is around 32,000 units.

This reflects the new performance management of the new Kirin chipset and it could possibly come with mid-range devices. It’s also revealed the initial stock will be limited for use but it will increase later on.

According to the information, Qualcomm Snapdragon 778G has an 8-core architecture. It is manufactured with TSMC’s 6-nanometer process technology. The chip contains 1 core Kryo 670 Prime (Cortex-A78) at 2400 MHz, 3 cores Kryo 670 Gold (Cortex-A78) at 2200 MHz, and 4 cores Kryo 670 Silver (Cortex-A55) at 1900 MHz.

On the other hand, Snapdragon 8+ is a flagship chip for smartphones manufactured with a 4nm process. Meanwhile, Kirin 980 is made with TSMC’s 7 nm process integration. It has 6.9 billion transistors for performance and energy efficiency. The chip is the first of its kind developed with a 1.4 Gbps high-speed Cat 21 GPU.

Over the past two years, Huawei used both of these Snapdragon chipsets. Especially, the SD 778G 4G version.

Huawei integrated this processor into mid-range phones including – Nova 10 and Nova 11 series. It provides good performance for smartphones but it seems Huawei could change its train this year.

Currently, there are no details available on the processing node of this new Kirin chip or how it will surpass the Snapdragon 778 in performance. Yet, there’s a lot more that could uncover as we move forward with excitement.
