July 2021 firmware update started to rollout for Huawei FreeBuds 4i



Huawei has begun to push a new firmware update for 3D bionic design earbuds, Huawei FreeBuds 4i. According to the information, this update brings improvements and optimizations to increase device performance.

In the last update, Huawei has brought support for the AI life iOS version and optimizations for the health reminder function to improve the user experience.

Huawei FreeBuds 4i:

Launched in February 2021, Huawei FreeBuds 4i comes with Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) for a noise-free sound experience, better battery prolonged use cases, better design, and high-quality audio effects.

The earbuds on both sides have built-in cap active touch sensing devices, which can be controlled by the headset or mobile by either double tap or long-press.

New firmware version details:

Huawei FreeBuds 4i earbuds owners can found this latest firmware update with version upgraded from To be mentioned, this update is limited to the Chinese variants and soon expand for global users.

What’s new with this update:

  • Improves Bluetooth connection experience.
  • Optimizes the system stability.

Important points:

This update is in the early stage of rollout, so it may take some time to reach your device. Also, we recommend users maintain at least 30% battery in both devices. Moreover, always put earbuds into the charging case and keep the case open at the time of updating.

Update Instruction:


First, open the Smart Life app and then select the corresponding card for your earphones to access the device’s home screen. Huawei Y6P receiving June 2021 security improves with new update

After the rollout for several Huawei devices, the June 2021 security patch reached the Huawei Y6P users. As usual, this update just brings security improvements, other than adding any new features.

Huawei Y6P features a 6.3-inch display, a triple rear camera, MediaTek processor, and much more. The main highlight of this phone is its massive 5000mAh battery along with fast charging.

To be mentioned, the latest software update for the Nova 5T has EMUI 10.1 version 10.1.0245 (C636E4R3P1) with a download size of 98.83MB. However, the update size and EMUI version may vary in different markets and regions.

According to Huawei, the June 2021 security update brings fixes for different levels of exploits including 2 critical and 13 high levels of CVEs for improved system security and device stability.


Aside from the security patch, the update doesn’t reveal much of the information about any other changes made to the smartphone’s software system.

Huawei Maimang 9 and Enjoy Z all smartphone users start upgrading over Huawei’s own HarmonyOS 2.0 operating system in China. After installation, these device users can experience the new features offered by HarmonyOS 2.

On July 21, Huawei announced the third phase of stable HarmonyOS 2 rollout for a batch of 27 devices including Maimang 9 and Enjoy Z 5G. At that time, the rollout is early stage so it is taking to reach all eligible devices.

Now, all the Maimang 9 and Enjoy Z smartphone owners running HarmonyOS 2.0 beta or EMUI 10.1 version can directly install the HarmonyOS 2.0 on their respective devices.

Home-screen: Swiping up on the app icon generates a service widget, which can be resized dragged to a new location, or added to your custom home screen.

Control Panel: Swiping down from the upper-right edge of the screen takes you to Control Panel. Device Control access has been added to the shortcut switches panel so that you can control all of your devices with the same ease as navigating on your phone.

Service Center: If you swipe up from the lower left or lower right corner on the screen, the system will lead to the Service Center. This is the place, where all of your collected service widgets are stored and ready to offer access to your desired services.


Smart Folder: HarmonyOS adds support for app categorization and management. By pressing down on a standard folder displays a large folder, which offers direct access to desired apps.

HarmoynOS Fonts: HarmonyOS brings support for step-free font Weight adjustments and adjusts the size of the font itself.

Smart Home: Offers nimble, intelligent operations on household appliances, such as quickly accessing the phone’s network from the devices, controlling screenless devices, installation-free apps, and direct service access, which can be accessed by tapping your phone against the selected household appliance, or bringing your phone into the proximity to the appliance.

Smart Office: Under this label, HarmonyOS brings you the capability to transfer files on cross-device platforms without requiring a data cable with the power of Huawei Share, which increases the file transfer speed and provides faster and secure file sharing between Huawei smartphones, computers, and tablets.


Seamless Performance: All operations, including touches and swipes, are smoother and more natural, with images and videos loading more quickly as well.

Task manager: Support task status saving infrequently used apps, meaning that even after you’ve switched to another app, you can pick up a previous task right from where you had left off.


App Guard: The App Guard mode is enabled by default, to ensure that all apps subject deep scans for malicious behavior, security vulnerabilities, privacy risks, and other related behaviors while being installed. This prevents risky apps from being installed while helping safeguard the secure running environment of the entire system.

Certifications: The TEE OS security kernel has obtained the CC EAL5+ certification, indicating the highest security level for a global commercial operating system kernel. The HarmonyOS operating system has obtained CC EAL4+ security certification, China’s highest security certification.


Collaborative Security: Add a mobile – Computer collaborative authentication feature and allows you to unlock your phone by entering the phone’s screen unlock password on your Huawei computer when your phone and computer are connected via multi-screen collaboration.

Huawei P9 and P9 Plus getting new software update, preparing for HarmonyOS upgrade?

Surprisingly, a new software update for its older P9 and P9 Plus smartphones. This firmware installs the January 2021 security patch and adds some new features to the device. This software for the P9 devices also brings stability to the system for a better user experience.

This update for Huawei P9 and P9 Plus installs new applications, optimizes search features on the home screen, improves system stability, adds new apps shortcuts. To be mentioned, this new firmware also improves system security with patches released in January 2021.

Both the P9 and P9 Plus are the two of Huawei’s oldest smartphones, launched way back in 2016. This flagship uses the first-ever Leica dual-camera system. The P9 lineup launched with pre-installed EMUI 4 based on Android 6. Currently, they operate on EMUI 8.0 and getting new security improvements.

This is a bit surprising for the users as the P9 series recently completed its five years of launch. Even after, Huawei has not forgotten them and released a new security patch. It’s not just the security improvements, there are some new feature add-ons as well.


The rollout is currently limited to the Chinese user but there are a number of assumptions that we can make. One of these suggests that the P9 devices could also be preparing for the HarmonyOS 2.0. However, the device is not listed under the current HarmonyOS 2 rollout roadmap but who knows what may happen next.

Note: Software update is currently rolling out for Chinese users. While the global rollout is not yet confirmed.
