Huawei to return 5G mid-range segment with next Nova phone

Huawei Nova 11 Pro

Huawei is planning to make a return to the mid-range smartphone segment with the next Nova series phone featuring 5G connectivity, according to Chinese media sources.

A report revealed that Huawei could launch a 5G version of the Huawei Nova series in October or November this year. This new information comes from supply chain sources. Although the identity of the device remained unknown but the next model in the queue would be the Huawei Nova 12 series.

Last month, Huawei unveiled its new flagship device – Mate 60 online. The device created many headlines for its mysterious chipset. It is later found that the phone has a 5G connection. This was even surprising for many of the consumers.

Since 2019, Huawei has been operating its smartphone business with serious challenges. The severe issue in chipset access crumbled its share in the field due to the lack of a 5G network.

Since 2021, Huawei has launched only 4G phones, even the past three flagships – P50, Mate 50, and P60 are all 4G. Yet, the sudden unveiling of the Huawei Mate 60 series brought back some fighting spirit to the Chinese phone maker.

Interestingly, many Chinese consumers are buying this new flagship and it’s doing sold-out sales both online and offline channels. Meanwhile, Huawei has confirmed that the Huawei Mate 60 series will be introduced on a big stage on September 25 in China.

Nova series:

Huawei Nova series has been a big champion among young customers. Huawei has been selling the Nova device for quite some time now. Therefore, it also went through the rough ride of a 4G connection.

Past models including – Nova 8, 9, 10, and 11 can only activate 4G network services for the users. However, the resumption of 5G in Huawei would be more impactful for the Nova series customers and it may replicate the Mate 60 series-like success for Huawei.

As for now, Huawei said nothing about its return to the mid-range smartphone segment with a new 5G device.
