International Data Corporation (IDC) has recently published the global tablet shipments report for the fourth quarter of 2021. The IDC report shows that Huawei ranks fifth with 2.5 million tablet shipped units accounting for 5.5% in Q4 of 2021.

According to the report, the worldwide tablet shipment has reached 46 million units in Q4 of 2021 with a decline of 11.9% year-on-year. This kind of decline has been noted for the second time since the pandemic began in 2020.

Meanwhile, the total tablet sales were increased by 3.2% year over year and hit the market with 16.8 million units in the full year of 2021. More interesting, the is market’s highest level since 2016.

Regarding this, Anuroopa Nataraj – Senior Research Analyst with IDC’s Mobility and Consumer Device Trackers said that “Though 2021 was a great year for the tablet market, shipments have begun to decelerate as the market has moved past peak demand across many geographies.”

Further, he added, “However, shipments in the near future will remain above pre-pandemic levels as virtual learning, remote work, and media consumption remain priorities for users.”

To be mentioned, most of the tablet companies mentioned in the top five list have shown negative year-on-year growth in the fourth quarter of 2021. Among the top five brands, Apple ranks first with 38% market shares and -8.6% year-on-year growth.

Meanwhile, Samsung secured the second position with a 15.9% market share, 7.3 million shipped units, and -21.6% negative growth in Q4 of 2021. Followed by Lenovo with 10% shares. On the other hand, Amazon.com is only on the list with a 1.3% positive year-on-year growth and holds a 7.9% share of the market.

Huawei is in the fifth position with -5.9% year-on-year growth and 10.5 million tablet shipped units in the Q4 of 2021. The major reason behind the decline is the slowdown of demand in the market.
