Huawei rolling out a massive size security update for Huawei Y7a smartphone

Alongside EMUI 11 and HarmonyOS, Huawei has not lost its interest in sending security improvements to its previously launched devices. However, we are in May, and the company still releasing March 2021 security patch for devices.

In this line, Huawei’s low-budget smartphone with good offerings – Huawei Y7a has started to receive a March 2021 security patch that helps the device to fight against the threats.

Aside from the security patch, the changelog doesn’t bring any other features or improvements but the notable thing is that the update comes with a huge package size of 3.34GB.

On the other hand, at the moment Huawei’s main focus is on completing EMUI 11 major rollout program because without concluding it, the company cannot start smartphones up-gradation over HarmonyOS.

Last month, one of the phones from the Huawei Y-series, the Y7p smartphone becomes the first smartphone, which received the March 2021 security update for improved system security.

Software update details:

Huawei Y7a smartphone users can download this update with EMUI 10.1 version 10.1.1.172 (C636E5R3P1) and package size of 3.34GB.

According to the changelog, this update brings March 2021 security patch that fixes 2 critical, 13 high, and 132 medium levels of CVEs for improved system security.

Key points to users before Update:

  • The device must have a better battery backup to install this update that is a minimum of 50%.
  • It’s compulsory to check your storage availability(Internal/External SDcard) to download the latest update as per its size required
  • A strong WiFi/mobile data connection is required for a buffer-free download of the package.

Update steps:

There are two ways that you can download this latest software update, both of these areas the following:

VIA SETTINGS:

  1. Go to Settings
  2. Tap on System & updates
  3. Tap Software update
  4. Tap Check for Updates
  5. Download and Install

After the installation and restart, we recommend you let the system optimize the new application so your device can run smoothly on further commands.

VIA SUPPORT:

You can also request this update via the Support app with the following instructions.

  1. Open the Support app
  2. Go to the Services tab
  3. Tap on Update
  4. Download and Install
