Huawei reclaims top Chinese foldable market

According to the latest market data from CINNO Research, Huawei has reclaimed its top spot in the Chinese foldable phone market in the first half of 2023. That’s not it, the company has beaten all of the competitors with a big market share.

It is revealed that Huawei once again occupied over 50 percent of the total foldable phone market in China for the first half of 2023. This new landmark is achieved with the robust sales of its new foldable device – Huawei Mate X3.

This is the lightest and slimmest foldable phone, which weighs 239 grams even lighter than iPhone 14 Pro Max. According to the information, Huawei Mate X3 has a new generation of hinge design, which provides better folding and unfolding mechanism.

It uses a 7.85-inch main foldable screen, OLED panel 1-120 Hz LTPO adaptive refresh rate, and 1440 Hz frequency PWM dimming. The cover screen has a 6.4-inch display and 1-120Hz LTPO adaptive refresh rate, 1440 Hz high-frequency PWM dimming.

The phone has a triple rear camera system including a 50 MP Ultra Vision Camera (F1.8 aperture) and a 13 MP Ultra-Wide Angle Camera (F2.2 aperture). And 12 MP Periscope Telephoto Camera (F3.4 aperture, OIS). The phone offers an 8MP cover and an internal front camera for selfies. This foldable offers a 4800mAh battery, which could recharge with a 66W super fast charger.

A past report shows that the company will unveil a 5G version of this flagship but there’s no official confirmation available on this matter.

For the first quarter, Counterpoint research reported that Huawei’s foldable phone market has reached an all-time low in China at 27%. On the flip side, Oppo made a sharp growth of 27%, tying with the Chinese tech giant. Samsung followed in the third spot with 26%.

Details also show that the entire foldable market is driven by steady growth of 72% year on year. Subsequently, all companies have seen good sales volume.
