Huawei ranks third in the global tablet market: Q1 2023

According to the latest market data recorded by IDC, Huawei has achieved the third position in the global tablet market shipment for the first quarter of 2023. Data reveals that Huawei moved up in rank and secured the third position this quarter as it continues to create a competitive portfolio of large-screen models for the global tablet market.

The two new models – MatePad SE 10.4-inch and MatePad 11-inch tablets are well received by consumers around the globe. However, the market tracker mentions that the new launches still couldn’t offset the decline due to the prevailing macroeconomic factors. Therefore, the shipments declined by 9.7% year over year.

  1. Apple shipped 10.8 million units, with a market share of 35.2%, down 10.2% year-on-year
  2. Samsung shipped 7.1 million units with a market share of 23.1%, down 14.3% year-on-year
  3. Huawei shipped 2 million units, with a market share of 6.6%, down 9.7% year-on-year
  4. Lenovo shipped 1.9 million units with a market share of 6.2%, down 37.1% year-on-year
  5. Amazon shipped 1.4 million units and a market share of 4.6%, down 62% year-over-year

The global tablet shipment declined by 19.% YoY in Q1 2023 with 30.7 million units shipped. IDC mentioned that the low shipment volume is now comparable to pre-pandemic levels. Shipment volume in 1Q23 was comparable to the 30.1 million units shipped in 1Q19 and 31.6 million in 1Q18.
