Last week, Huawei announced its Mate X and Mate 20X 5G smartphones in the UK but the country’s two biggest mobile carriers don’t seem to be interested in adding Huawei phones on their 5G networks.

ARM reportedly planning to stop working with Huawei

UK mobile network EE had planned to list Huawei phones as part of its May 30 launch of the 5G network but abandoned it because of uncertainty that whether its customers will get software support from Google after they the devices from EE, citing the US restrictions, reported FinancialTimes.

Another major operator, Vodafone reportedly said it would suspend Huawei’ Mate X from the list of its 5G devices, which has also planned to launch the device on its 5G network but a expressed that “Huawei’s 5G handset is yet to receive necessary certifications”.

The chief officer of EE said: “The company had paused the launch of Huawei’s 5G phones because it did not have the “Surety of service” it needed to offer on long-term contracts. We’ve had to hold that back”.

However, the company will continue to use Huawei’s 5G network equipment alongside another telecom provider.

This whole scenario is related to the US’s business restrictions on Huawei, which dragged Google to also put an end on its services to Huawei phones including software updates support and now the company has resumed its services to existing devices for next 90 days.
