On October 25, 2019, Huawei has registered for the new patent in China under the smart transportation category named as method and device for detecting blind spots in vehicles. This patent was publically published on January 12, 2021, with publication number CN112216097A.

Blind spots are the areas to the sides of your car that can’t be seen in your rear mirror or side mirrors- to make sure these spots are clear before changing lanes.

The patent describes the method of detecting the blind spot in traffic road by receiving the videos taken by a set of cameras placed on the road, which determines the position and posture details of the vehicle on the road at the current time. After obtaining a blind spot and position and posture information of vehicles on road, this method determines the blind spot of the vehicle on the road at the current time or in the future. According to these determined vehicle details, the device indicates the traveling direction of the vehicle.
