Huawei Nova 9 will launch on September 23, and the phone will come with a number of new features and a new rear design as compared to Nova 8.

With Nova 9, the Chinese tech maker is once again focusing on the mobile camera. And tipster from Weibo reveals that the Huawei Nova 9 will equip a 50MP 1/1.56 RYYB main camera. Huawei does not use RYYB camera sensors on regular smartphones and the 50MP RYYB on Huawei Nova 9 will surely bring better photography for the consumers.

Huawei is the first smartphone maker to introduce RYYB camera colors. The color mapping was initially launched with Huawei P30 Pro.

But what is the RYYB Camera sensor?

Usually, the camera sensor uses RGB color mapping, this is two green, one blue, and one red, for every four pixels (G, B, R), to reproduce colors that the human eye can see. An RGGB sensor means it lets red light, green light, and blue light come through and be captured by the lens.

While RYYB means the green pixel was replaced by yellow pixel which allows both red light and green light to come through. This enhanced the volume of incoming light immensely, therefore a greatly enhanced camera allows you to take taking clear photos under a dark environment.

That’s not it, because the RYYB also enhances daylight picture quality and sharpness in the picture as compared to the previous-gen RGB camera sensors.
