Despite being challenged by the U.S. sanctions, Huawei continues to innovate new technologies including the upcoming foldable phone. Tipster Weibo revealed that the Chinese tech giant could launch its first flip style phone – Huawei Mate V this year.

Tipster – BaldPanda said that Huawei Mate V will be the late flagship of this year and it comes with a flip design and it’ll be powered by a 5nm Kirin 9000 processor. This is quite an interesting revealing that will surely spark an interest of the consumer that loved the Mate X2 foldable phone.

Huawei Mate V Design:

A number of smartphone makers are now trying different types of foldable smartphones, as it’s expected to the mainstream in near future. However, Huawei’s approach towards the upcoming Mate V could be different.

In July last year, Huawei applied for a design patent at CNIPA (China National Intellectual Property Administration). The phone in the patent has a clamshell design and could be the Huawei Mate V. That patent included the device and its aesthetics. Let’s check the upcoming patent in a bit more detail.

The phone has a foldable full view display with a notch on the top comprising a selfie camera. Notably, the notch is a bit squared compared to regular smartphones. On the right side, it has volume adjustment keys, followed by a red-colored power key. The left side remains blank. The topside seems to feature a headphone jack. The bottom side has a USB Type-C port, a sim-card tray, and a speaker grill.

On the rear, the camera system is placed vertically with a camera bump. However, the camera number is yet to confirm, additional sensors are featured on the right side of the camera system. The camera system has a black stripe that covers the phone’s back from top to bottom in the top part of the phone.

Trademark:

Huawei has been preparing to introduce this phone since two years ago. In July 2020, Huawei applied for a new trademark at European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO) for the name “Mate V”.

The application was filed on July 3, 2020, under the class 9 category including the smartphones and a bunch of others in the description.

That’s not it, in May 2019, Huawei has filed several patents for the names that are related to the foldable design including the name “Mate V” on board.

Conclusion:

The above news is surely exciting and we cannot wait for this device to unravel among consumers. Meanwhile, Huawei has not confirmed any such launch officially but we’ll get to that sooner or later.
