Huawei Mate 80, Pro, Pro Max and RS Ultimate Design: Specs Comparison
Huawei Mate 80 series is garnering attention for its powerful features and new Kirin processors and we’re up with a detailed specs comparison of all four models: standard, Pro, Pro Max, and the Mate 80 RS Ultimate Design.
All four Mate 80 handsets come with an elegant and super slim profile. The infinite design is visible on the standard and Pro models. Whereas the RS Ultimate follows the signature appearance with a star-diamond cut camera module.
Though apart from this look, these Mate models also differ in terms of specs and it’s time to have a comparison between the Huawei Mate 80, Pro, Pro Max, as well as the RS Ultimate handset, checking every aspect in full detail.
Before proceeding, it is worth mentioning that the Mate 80 base and Pro smartphones have alike parameters while the Pro Max and RS share similar specifications.
1. Body Framework
Mate 80 and Mate 80 Pro have an ultra-reliable body – thanks to the 2nd-generation Kunlun Glass + IP68 rating with 6-meter water resistance and IP69 with high-temperature and high-pressure water spray resistance.
Huawei’s new Pro Max phone has an all-metal ultra-reliable framework and a 2nd-gen Kunlun Glass + IP68 level with 6-meter water resistance + IP69 level with high-temperature and high-pressure water spray resistance.
The RS Ultimate model has an exclusive high-gloss titanium basalt mid-frame for extreme sleekness and a third-gen basalt tempered glass on the front + second-gen basalt glass on the back. It also supports the IP69 rating.
2. Display and Dimension
The standard Huawei Mate 80 and Pro features a 6.75-inch flat screen with 2.5D glass thinness. Both models have a dimension of 161.85 x 76 x 7.95mm, but only differ in weight. Mate 80 weighs 217 grams, while the Pro version weighs 219 grams.
On the other hand, the Mate 80 Pro Max and the RS Ultimate have similar measurements of 164.4 x 79 x 8.25mm. They have a flat dual-layer OLED panel of 6.9 inches. Though the Pro Max weighs 239 grams and the RS Ultimate weighs 249 grams.
3. Processor
Huawei has made an unexpected move this time by unveiling two new Kirin chips: 9030 and 9030 Pro. The former is available only for the Mate 80 Pro 12GB RAM variants.
Meanwhile, the Mate 80 Pro 16GB RAM models, Mate 80 Pro Max, and the RS Ultimate feature the Kirin 9030 Pro chipset. The standard version has Kirin 9020 5G.

4. Operating System
All Mate 80 models pre-install the HarmonyOS 6.0 software system with smarter AI features and a special outdoor mode with 14 days of battery life. The top-end devices, like Pro and RS versions, also support an Extreme Rescue Mode.
5. Communication Features
Mate 80/Pro brings dual-nano SIM cards and Beidou satellite messaging technology. The Pro Max features dual-nano SIM cards and dual-satellite communication.
But the Mate 80 RS Ultimate Design is currently the only model with dual-nano SIM cards + dual eSIMs + dual satellite communication technology.
6. Camera
Huawei has introduced the second-generation multispectral camera, which is available for all four models. They also have a 13MP selfie snapper and a 3D depth-sensing technology. Although other imaging sensors differ to some extent:
- Mate 80: 50MP main camera + 40MP ultrawide-angle shooter + 12MP telephoto lens + second-gen multispectral camera
- Mate 80 Pro: 50MP main camera + 40MP ultrawide-angle shooter + 48MP telephoto lens + second-gen multispectral camera
- Mate 80 Pro Max: 50MP ultra-high-dynamic main camera + 40MP ultrawide-angle shooter + 50MP super-focus macro telephoto lens + 50MP super telephoto + second-gen multispectral camera
- Mate 80 RS Ultimate: 50MP ultra-high-dynamic main camera + 40MP ultrawide-angle shooter + 50MP super-focus macro telephoto lens + 50MP super telephoto + second-gen multispectral camera
7. Battery
The standard Huawei Mate 80 and Pro feature a 5750mAh battery. But one difference between these models is charging. The former supports 66W wired and 50W wireless charging with 5W wired reverse and wireless reverse charging. The latter has 100W wired, 80W wireless, 18W wired reverse, and wireless reverse charging.
On the flip side, both high-end models have a 6000mAh battery with 100W wired, 80W wireless, 18W wired reverse, and wireless reverse charging.
