Huawei Mate 70 series may adopt an ultra-tough basaltic coating

Huawei has used an ultra-tough and durable basaltic coating for the Mate 60 series and it seems the company may brush the same polish on the upcoming Mate 70 lineup. The aim is likely to make the flagship devices stronger and more intense.

A Weibo blogger named @SetsunaDigital says that the Huawei Mate 70 series could adopt the super-hard AR material, also known as a basaltic coating. The leak hints at the powerful body strength of the approaching premium lineup.

Basalts are igneous rocks that originate from cooling and solidifying the magma on Earth’s surface. It consists of plagioclase and pyroxene minerals which offer 40% higher strength and 20% more stiffness than an ordinary glass material.

On the flip side, the Basalt fiber’s thermal insulation properties deliver improved energy efficiency and reduce energy consumption. It is non-toxic to the environment.
