Every possible smartphone from low-end to high-end flagships comes with volume adjustment keys placed on either the left or the right side of the device but the upcoming Mate 30 series is ready to replace the physical volume keys with new technology.

Huawei filed trademark for Cine Camera, beastly camera tech in preparation for Mate 30

According to the leaked images of Mate 30 Pro’s test variant, shows on the right side of the phone, there’s a big cutout on the protective cover revealing a red-painted power/unlock button and space above it is ’empty’, also there are no physical keys found on that particular area.

It’s expected that the empty surface will still work as volume adjustment keys but instead of physical clicks, it’ll work as a sliding area. Slide up to increase the volume or slide down to decrease it, first noticed by the tipster Teme.

This new innovation opens the gate for new unibody design, which the Mate 30 Pro reported to attach front display Panel with back glass without the requirement of a middle frame.

Also, the new display has a huge 90-degree curve and the curved glass is expected to be featured on the back of the device creating a full 180-degree round design on both left and right sides to create a better aesthetics, which also makes a good sense for the removal of volume buttons.
