Huawei Consumer Business Group CTO, Bruce Lee said that Huawei satellite communication SMS has sufficient quota for each supported smartphone user. He wrote on Weibo that users of the Huawei Mate X3 and P60 series, Nova 11 Ultra, and Watch Ultimate to not forget to send satellite messages “to ask for help or to report safety to family and friends”. He emphasized that “now the satellite still has enough capacity for everyone to”.

It may indicate that the company is now assuring satellite connectivity slots for all Huawei devices. These users may have had issues in the past few months.

The feature is powered by China’s Beidou satellite technology. Therefore, it’s also called Beidou messaging.

The satellite SMS technology was first introduced with the Huawei Mate 50 series last year. The feature allows you to send SMS without a mobile network. Initially, it supported only one-way communication, which means that the sender cannot receive the response with the same connection. But the Huawei P60 series brought a second generation of this tech with two-way communication.

About the quota, Huawei P60, Huawei P60 Pro, Huawei P60 Art, Huawei Mate X3, Huawei Mate X3 Collector’s Edition, and Huawei Nova 11 Ultra have a total of 30 free satellite SMS for sending and receiving each month.

This quota will be renewed at 24:00 o’clock on the last day of each month. The feature is still in the public test for the industry, which is currently free for all smartphones. After the full launch, the feature may be charged.
