Huawei FreeClip 2 launched with AI ear assistant for first time

On September 24, Huawei launched the FreeClip 2 with a fresh design and a beautiful color. But the design is not the only segment to glare at. The company has added several fascinating features to the new audio wearable.

Design: Huawei FreeClip 2 continues the same C-shaped look for the earbuds, but the case has a redesigned look. It comes in a squarish format. The real-life image of this box is quite attractive. (Check HERE)

The device is available in three colors: Denim Blue, Feather White, and Modern Black. Its size and dimensions are given below:

• Earbuds: 25.4 x 26.7 x 18.8mm and weigh 5.1 grams (each bud)
• Charging Box: 50 x 49.6 x 25mm and weighs 37.8 grams.

FreeClip 2 uses skin-friendly liquid silicone material paired with high-performance memory metal. The feel is 25% softer than the previous-gen earbuds and gives a comfortable + long-lasting fit.

Tech Features

Speaking of the tech features, the audio wearable supports an IP57 rating with splash-proof and sweat-resistant properties. Huawei has used a 3rd-gen audio chip with a self-developed NPU AI processor, which eventually boosts the computing power by 10 times.

This technology can more efficiently process various audio signals, offering a clear listening and calling experience in all scenarios.

Huawei has further used a dual-engine driver with a compact design to increase loudness and low-frequency power by 100%. Besides, the NearLink Audio will also support the device, but by the end of this year.

In terms of sound experience, you can observe these changes:

• The device can detect surrounding noise in real time and adjust the volume accordingly.
• FreeClip 2 can automatically enhance the human voice, based on what you’re listening to at that moment, and ensure clear calls all the time.
• The three-microphone call noise reduction system and a multi-channel DNN noise reduction algorithm identify ambient noise in public places to offer clear two-way voice calls.
• An inverse sound field acoustic system reduces sound leakage by transmitting reverse sound waves and automatically lowers the volume in a quiet environment.
• HD Spatial Audio: The device uses open-space sound field enhancement technology that delivers a more immersive listening experience.

Harmony AI assistant:

Huawei has integrated a dedicated ear-assistant into the device. It uses an NPU chip that helps Celia to respond instantly to your calls and answer your questions. You can even start a conversation with the assistant and interrupt it at any point. It even processes long messages or notifications like flight details at times when your hands are busy.

You can accept or reject calls by nodding and shaking your head, respectively. Besides, you can control message alerts with the same gestures. It also supports face-to-face real-time translation, offline search, and floor location tracking with close-range NearLink Accurate tracking up to 50 meters.

The comfort bean of the FreeClip 2 now supports gestures to adjust the volume. Huawei has integrated 38 hours of battery life into the device with a 60mAh cell for each earphone and a 537mAh cell for the box.

It takes only 40 to 60 minutes to charge the device. Other features include Bluetooth 6.0, dual-device connection, and multi-device connection.

Huawei FreeClip 2 is priced at 1299 yuan and will go to the pre-sale activity on October 14. The official sale date is October 20.
