Huawei dominates 5G patent ranking, Qualcomm second, Samsung third

Huawei has once again become a topper in the 5G patent ranking and outnumbered competitors including Qualcomm and Samsung for the win.

China Academy of Information and Communication Technology has recently published a paper on the Global 5G Standard Essential Patents and Standard Proposal Research Report (2023). It mentions that the 5G standards of Huawei patents ranking first in the world.

According to the report, Huawei’s effective global patent families account for 14.59% of the overall market. On the other hand, Qualcomm comes second with 10.04% of patents and Samsung has the third spot with 8.80% of the patent share.

The top 10 players in the ranking are ZTE, LG, Nokia, Ericsson, Datang, OPPO, and Xiaomi. Huawei has long been a leader in 5G technologies and the company holds most patents of 5G networks in the world.
