Huawei HarmonyOS NEXT developer preview

Huawei is preparing for the first HarmonyOS ecosystem development event on January 18 and it looks like the company could release the HarmonyOS NEXT developer preview at the same stage. The inputs on this matter have started surfacing online.

Weibo tipster @FixedFocus said that Huawei will showcase the HarmonyOS NEXT developer preview version on January 18. In addition, the company will explain the HarmonyOS native application development and its benefits that will improve the software experience.

Ahead, the tipster mentioned that Huawei Mate 40 Pro and Mate 60 Pro with Kirin chips will be the first to install the HarmonyOS NEXT developer preview. Meanwhile, other tech-pack models will soon follow suit. Notably, the company has already been hearsay testing the HarmonyOS native apps on these handsets.

Being a preview firmware, it will initially be available to developers in the first half of this year. Whereas, the stable build is likely to release in the second half of 2024 along with the Mate 70 series. An official statement on this topic is still awaited.

Eventually, it will be a new phase for developers to re-inspect their development in favor of adapting to the HarmonyOS NEXT ecosystem. Yet, this conversion will play a significant role in providing a smarter, more comprehensive, and more efficient experience to users with better renderings and faster operations.

HarmonyOS ecosystem development event:

Huawei is hosting the ultimate HarmonyOS-based conference on January 18. It will cover several topics in the event and conduct multiple offline activities to spread the knowledge of its new software ecosystem.

Interested users can participate in the event in eight cities including Beijing, Shanghai, Hangzhou, Nanjing, Changsha, Chengdu, Xiamen, and Wuhan via the official site (HERE).

HarmonyOS NEXT is a pure version that is independent of the traditional Linux kernel and Android open-source project code. It runs on the HarmonyOS kernel and supports the same system applications. Perhaps, consumers will gain a dynamic phase with the upcoming software creation.
