Huawei and Tencent set a joint lab to collaborate in Social Network, AR, Payment and more

On May 17, Huawei EMUI and Tencent QQ team jointly established a lab in Shenzhen, China, where they’ll collaborate on new technologies.

This lab will allow both Tencent QQ and Huawei EMUI to explore more opportunities in the field of Social Networking, Augmented Reality, Digital Payment, Internet of Things (IoT) and others.

EMUI is Huawei’s operating system based on Android, and QQ is one of the most famous instant messaging app developed by Tencent.



As the largest social networking platform in China, QQ has more than 800 million monthly active users, this collab will bring QQ’s features embedded directly into Huawei’s camera application for better photos.

For AR, QQ-AR will customize Huawei’s AR Engine for Huawei phones to give an enhanced user experience, Huawei smartphone users will be able to use fingerprint and face recognition payments more easily with QQ wallet.

In addition to this lab establishment, both of these firms will further promote more application-level innovation, including opening Huawei’s camera enhancement capability to QQ and QQ adapting Huawei’s Ark Compiler and Link Turbo, as well as foldable phones based on the 5G mobile network.
