- Honor Magic 6 series smartphones will launch with new flagship Qualcomm Chipset
- This phone lineup will bring LLM AI technologies
- A test model of Honor Magic 6 Pro was pictured last week
Honor today announced that the Honor Magic 6 series will launch with Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset and LLM technology. This is a massive announcement coming from the former Huawei subsidiary, which is now chasing its own destiny.
However, one of the major announcements for this device would be the on-device LLM with 7 billion parameters. This is a new race for the smartphone maker and Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 is allowing the phone to bring large language model machine learning technologies to users’ hands.
In action, the LLM in smartphones would enable smarter assistant and phone customization features in devices without cloud or third-party services.
To demonstrate the new LLM capabilities, Honor CEO, George Zhao appeared during Qualcomm Summit 2023. He shared an eye-catching feature, and that’s not a phrase because it’s a feature. With the front motion and iris sensor on the smartphone, a user can open and operate through an app based on the gaze.
On the other hand, Honor’s smart device assistant could now take more generalized commands. For example, the assistant can now sort out the videos in your gallery based on certain parameters such as date or place. These are some progressive changes that LLM is about to bring on Honor Magic 6.
In the past week, an engineering model of Honor Magic 6 Pro was pictured in the wild. The phone has a wide cutout in the front (top-center).
This might house the new facial and iris recognition system used to track user’s eye movement. The display also brings curved edges on each side and bezels are the lowest. The rear side of the phone contains a revamped camera system with an increased diameter in the camera bump.
The LLM tech is exciting but Honor is yet to share any details about the launch of the Honor Magic 6 series.
