Honor 8X receiving January Security update, EMUI 10 rollout expanding

Honor has started expanding the EMUI 10 rollout for Honor 8X smartphone. Meanwhile, the Honor 8X users running EMUI 9.1 and the users who’ve already upgraded to EMUI 10 are receiving a new update package.

The new software update for Honor 8X brings the January 2020 security patch. However, there are no additional features or improvements mentioned in the changelog.

The January 2020 update improves system security with Google security patches and fixes to fixes to 2 critical and 16 high levels of Common Vulnerabilities and Exposures (CVE).

Software Versions:

Honor 8X on EMUI 9.1 receiving this update with version 9.1.0.273 with size below 100 MB, we’ve noticed that this version is required to update on EMUI 10 in some markets.

Honor 8X devices on EMUI 10 receiving the January security patch with EMUI version 10.0.0.175 (previous on EMUI 10.0.0.170). This new version also rolling as full EMUI 10 OTA in other countries.

Note: The EMUI version and Size may vary depending on the market.

To Check for update follow the instructions below:

Via Settings:

  1. Open Settings
  2. Click on ‘System
  3. Click on ‘Software update
  4. Click on ‘CHECK FOR UPDATES
  5. Click on ‘Download and install

Via HiCare:

  1. Open HiCare app
  2. Click on ‘Services’ tab
  3. Click on ‘Update
  4. Click on ‘CHECK FOR UPDATES
  5. Click on ‘Download and install
