Here’s what Huawei said about becoming No. 1 smartphone maker after the US ban

After surpassing Apple for the second place in the global smartphone market, Huawei is on the mission to dethrone Samsung from the top spot but after the US restriction, Huawei seems to postpone its number one  smartphone vendor milestone.

On May 31, After Honor flagship launch, Zhao Ming, president of Honor said in a media briefing that Huawei is now closely observing and evaluating the situation after the US restricted companies from supplying the Chinese telecom giant including hardware component to software services, reported SCMP.

“As the new situation has emerged, it is too early to say whether we are able to achieve the goal,” said Zhao, responding to questions about Huawei’s plan to overtake Samsung Electronics and become the world’s largest smartphone vendor before the end of 2020.

Zhao also answered a question from reporter whether Honor’s business overseas has encountered any problems after the US ban, he answered.

“All the difficulties make us stronger, no matter in mentality or in action,”.
