Huawei is rolling out the year’s end EMUI update for the global Huawei Mate 20 Pro smartphone models. This update comes after a long time for this old flagship Huawei device.

Released in 2018, the Huawei Mate 20 Pro is the first to bring a matrix camera system. The design is unique featuring a wide-notch display design with various facial recognition capabilities.

It has a triple-lens setup including a 40MP main camera, 20MP ultra wide-angle camera, and an 8MP telephoto zoom camera. The phone packs a large 4200mAh battery with Kirin 980 chipset.

The Mate 20 Pro offers EMUI 9.0 out of the box and later received EMUI 10, and EMUI 11, and currently runs EMUI 12 through an OTA software update method.

The latest addition is also applicable to the device with EMUI 12 version only. Huawei Mate 20 Pro global users can identify the year’s end update with firmware version 12.0.0.170 and it brings a downloadable package size of 202 megabytes.

Improvements:

The changelog of this firmware has important improvements for communication. The update rolling out to resolve any bug or improve the connectivity to provide a better user experience during calls or network access for mobile data.

A few days ago, Huawei also released this update for the Huawei P30 Pro smartphones. Both of these devices are completing their software update cycle.

Such updates could keep the phones functional if they’re not receiving further major version upgrade.

Instructions and Notes:

Huawei Mate 20 Pro users can download this new software via Settings > open System & updates > tap on Software update > then enter CHECK FOR UPDATES. The system may take a few seconds to check for new firmware for your Mate 20 Pro.

The update is rolling out in batches and it may take some time to reach all users at once. Therefore, you need to check again through the above-mentioned instructions.

Although the update won’t delete your data but we suggest you make a backup of your important files and data to prevent any unwanted data loss.
