Huawei has started to rollout the first EMUI 12 beta update for Huawei P40 Lite 4G smartphone in the global market. Just a week ago, the company has begun the EMUI 12 beta recruitment for this smartphone in Europe and now dispatching the beta build.
As reported by Huaweiailesi, EMUI 12 beta update for the Huawei P40 Lite smartphone brings the latest EMUI 12 version 188.8.131.52. However, it comes with a massive update package size of 2.43GB and contains a big changelog.
The EMUI 12 beta changelog reveals that it includes various useful functionalities including Neumorphic Design, smart folders, notification panel, control panel, font, Huawei share, and MeeTime. (Full changelog below)
Huawei P40 lite users should know that this update is rolling out in batches and it may take some time to reach every consumers.

Neuromorphic Design: Applies the concept of neumorphism to Ul elements by using simple color tones, shadows, and highlights to create a more realistic effect.
Font: Supports more flexible font adjustment, allowing you to adjust the size and weight with a slider
Smart Folders: Supports touching and holding app folders on the home screen to enlarge them for easier access to the apps within them.
Notification Panel: This allows you to swipe down from the top left side of the screen to access the Notification Panel to view notifications,
Control Panel: From the top right side to access the Control Panel to use shortcuts. Adds an audio control section to Control Panel, making it easier to switch between different audio devices and audio apps
Huawei Share: Improves the transmission speed of Huawei Share for faster file sharing between Huawei phones, tablets, and laptops.
MeeTime: MeeTime allows you to make HD voice and video calls over the data network and you can share the screen during the video call to chat.
HOW TO CHECK FOR UPDATE:
To download this update manually, go to Settings then System & updates, then open Software update, from here select Check for updates. If an update is available it’ll pop up on your phone and an option of Download and install will appear. Press the option and start to download.
Alternatively, you can also request software updates through the My Huawei app. To do this, go to the My Huawei tab on the bottom bar, tap on the update, then select Check for updates, and then download and install.
Before you upgrade:
- Make sure you’ve sufficient storage to download and store the update package on your smartphone.
- Also, you are required to update all of the system and third-party apps to the latest version before and after the installation to get the EMUI 12 user experience.
- The phone should also have a sufficient battery level (approx above 50 percent). You can also back up important data to prevent any unwanted files loss.
- You should prefer downloading the EMUI 12 beta OTA software update over a WiFi network.
- The installation process may take minutes to install, be patient and wait while the update process.
